Don Keith grew up in Springville, graduated from the University of Alabama, worked at several radio stations in Birmingham and now lives in Pelham. He will always have a special place of honor at The Alabama Booksmith, having been the first author ever to read and sign for us. Don was named Writer of the Year by The Alabama Library Association. Being the only person named Billboard magazine's Personality of the Year Award for both the country and contemporary music formats helped in writing his novel on the history of radio, Wizard of the Wind. His experiences as a walk-on for Bear Bryant provided material for his award winning The Forever Season and The Bear.
