The son of a tentmaker, Saul of Tarsus was an ardent defender of the Jewish faith who persecuted followers of Jesus Christ for their beliefs. Riding one of his father’s donkeys, Saul set out to punish anyone who believed Jesus was the Messiah. Suddenly on the road to Damascus, he was hit with a blinding light, knocked to the ground, and lost his sight.
