Other Covered Bridges Conference

This year’s Other Covered Bridges Conference features three very talented southern writers.

Patti Callahan Henry is the New York Times bestselling author of six novels. Patti is hailed as a fresh new voice in southern fiction. Her latest book, Driftwood Summer, is a novel about three sisters- responsible Riley, vivacious Maisy, and fun-loving Adalee-who reunite to save the family's beach-community bookstore. But summer also marks the return of Mack Logan, whose choice of Maisy over Riley years ago destroyed the special closeness between the sisters... Now Riley, a single mom, is hiding a shattering secret about their mother. Maisy, a California designer, still blames Riley for ruining her one true love. And Adalee resents the family's intrusion into her summer plans. All three will be forced to confront the conflicts that tore them apart and the bounds of love and loyalty that still draw them together...

Keith Thomson’s latest title, Once a Spy, is, according to New York Times best-selling writer Christopher Reich, “Utterly original, it is an adrenaline-fueled concoction of sidesplitting humor and genuine suspense. Think Carl Hiassen taking on John Le Carré and the winner is the reader. What a find! I can't imagine not loving this gem of a novel!” With Once a Spy, Keith Thomson makes his debut on the thriller stage with energy, wit, and style to spare.

Mister Slaughter, award-winning writer Robert McCammon’s latest book, is at once a classic portrait of an archetypal serial killer and an exquisitely detailed account of a fledgling nation still in the process of inventing itself. Suspenseful, illuminating, never less than compulsively readable, it is, by any measure, an extraordinary achievement, the largest accomplishment to date from one of our most gifted--and necessary--writers.

Event will be at Twin Oaks at Heritage Golf in Oneonta. Buffet starts at 5:30, authors talk at 6:30. For tickets: Mitchie Neel - 205.680.2149 mitchieneel@att.net

Rick Bragg in the Movies

Even though you weren’t able to attend the September 26, 2011, sold-out world premiere of Alabama’s Rick Bragg: Out of the Dirt, here’s your opportunity to view the entire movie at home, as well as much bonus footage not seen in the original documentary.

Listen in on distinguished Alabamaians, local friends and family tell inside tales on Rick as a child and award-winning best-selling author. Rick also gives his life’s philosophy in many scenes. Find out about his mother’s poetry; hear his aunt tell of dressing him as a girl when he was a tot. If ever there was a priceless gift, this is it.

You may order the two DVD (22.95) set through our secure, encrypted link Here
