Barry Hannah is one of the most memorable creative writing instructors ever to teach at the University of Alabama. His classroom lectures were classic, and he is responsible for inspiring many Alabama authors. He was honored by the American Academy of Arts and Letters and won the William Faulkner Award. He has been nominated for both the American Book Award and the National Book Award.
