Rick McCammon was born in Birmingham, educated at the University of Alabama and now lives in Vestavia Hills. In college, he was editor of The Crimson White and later did the same work at The Birmingham Post-Herald.
He has been acclaimed as one of the finest writers of horror ever to put pen to paper. His earlier hardback works are collectible around the world, and his British editions bring a hefty price. After reaching the zenith in that genre, he turned to general fiction, and Boy's Life has been named to the reading list of almost every high school in the country.
