Sonny Brewer owns Over the Transom Bookstore in Fairhope, Alabama, and is board chairman of the nonprofit Fairhope Center for the Writing Arts.
From his first real job at age 15, he has also worked as a short-order cook, service station attendant, pants folder, folk singer, used car salesman, sailor, electronics technician, tugboat deckhand, traveling used-tire salesman, carpenter, building contractor, real estate salesman, purveyor of collectible automobiles, magazine editor, newspaper columnist, teacher, lecturer, and coffeehouse manager.
