THE GOOD LORD BIRD is a clever satire of John Brown traveling with a young boy dressed as a young girl. It is a rousing adventure of one of the most colorful characters in American history. It won the National Book Award.
THIS COPY (shown below) was signed on the title page by James McBride at the store on August 22, 2013. It is a new, unread hardback edition opened only for signing. Published in August, 2013 by Riverhead Books, an imprint of Penguin Random House and who placed a label on the jacket that reads, National Book Award Winner".
JAMES MCBRIDE (pictured below from our Wall of Fame) is a great friend of the store, and one of the most talented people on the planet. He has written fiction, non-fiction, screenplays, and songs. He has toured as a tenor saxophonist, played with the Rock Bottom Remainders (Stephen King, Amy Tan, Mitch Albom, Dave Barry & others), sold over three million copies in sixteen languages, and had his books rendered on the big screen. Along the way he was presented the National Humanities Medal by the President of the United States, won the Stephen Sondheim Award, and the National Book Award. He is Distinguished Writer-in-Residence at New York University. Thank you James McBride for signing our books.
