Ed Southern - FIGHT SONGS: A STORY OF LOVE AND SPORTS IN A COMPLICATED SOUTH

Thursday, September 16, 2021 - 5:00 PM

This book was to be an insider's view of the history of the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Clemson Tigers, college football's reigning giants, from the perspective of a lifelong fan of the smallest school in the NCAA's Power 5, the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. That was the plan, the focus of the research - until the pandemic came along - and now the world has a book that explains: the relationship between the South's histories and college sports; the connections and contradictions between the teams we root for and where we plant our roots; and the love that bloomed between a publisher's sales representative and a bookseller (from our store).

ED SOUTHERN is Executive Director of the North Carolina Writers' Network, and the author of four books. Come chat with Ed about sports, the complicated South - or love!.

The event is free and open to the public.
