DEACON KING KONG is a darkly funny tale of an old deacon in 1969's Brooklyn who shoots a local drug dealer point-blank, surrounded by witnesses, and examines the effect the shooting has throughout the community.


THIS COPY (shown below) was signed on the title page by James McBride at his office. It is a new, unread first edition opened only for signing. Published in March, 2020 by Riverhead Books, an imprint of Penguin Random House.


JAMES  MCBRIDE (pictured below from our Wall of Fame) is a great friend of the store, and one of the most talented people on the planet. He has written fiction, non-fiction, screenplays, and songs. He has toured as a tenor saxophonist, played with the Rock Bottom Remainders (Stephen King, Amy Tan, Mitch Albom, Dave Barry & others), sold over three million copies of his books in sixteen languages, as well as having them translated to the big screen. Along the way he was presented the National Humanities Medal by the President of the United States, won the Stephen Sondheim Award, and the National Book Award. He is Distinguished Writer-in-Residence at New York University. Thank you James McBride for signing our books.
