VISIONS OF THE BLACK BELT: A CULTURAL SURVEY OF THE HEART OF ALABAMA is a breathtaking collection of nearly four hundred beautiful photographs of the Black Belt region of Alabama. Touching on a multitude of aspects of the culturally rich area, including the farms built on the rich soil that gives the area its name to the historic churches that the locals still call home, this is a virtual tour through over two centuries of life in rural Alabama told through expert photography.

ROBIN MCDONALD (pictured below from our Wall of Fame) is an Englishman by birth who emigrated to America at the age of 12, and has lived in Alabama since 1966. He received a BA cum laude in art history at Emory University and an MA in art history at Columbia University. He then returned to Birmingham and authored two books about Alabama that feature his photography. Thank you Robin McDonald for signing our books.
